Eagle's Nest Camp is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced climber to head up our rock-climbing wilderness program for the summer of 2018.
Responsibilities: The Climbing Director is responsible for mentoring the climbing staff (3-4 people), overseeing the progression of classes, and coordinating trip logistics for climbing expeditions in Western North Carolina with the Wilderness Program Manager and health staff. In the field, the director oversees the safety of the rock site and typically serves as the lead climber for setup and breakdown, in addition to providing instruction. The climbing staff will teach young people (ages 6-17) ranging from beginning to advanced skill levels. Beginning climbers will be introduced to all aspects of climbing and advanced students can progress to multi-pitch routes and mock leading. Our program uses our on-site climbing tower as well as many local natural climbing areas including Looking Glass, Cedar Rock, Linville Gorge, and Rumbling Bald.
Qualifications: At least 21 years old, with experience in traditional rock climbing techniques and teaching. Ability to lead 5.7 trad minimum; 5.9 trad strongly preferred, with AMGA certification a major plus. CPR and WFA required; WFR or higher certification preferred.

Eagle's Nest provides a strong, nurturing community where campers ages 6-17 are treated with respect, honor and compassion. Campers have the opportunity to participate in 1-3 week long session which emphasize the wilderness, arts and community.
