Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center has been known throughout Maryland as a high quality team building facility and summer camp for more than 36 years. We are an organization that values and cares for our staff, campers, and challenge course participants. Located just thirty minutes north of Baltimore, Genesee Valley is home to 130+ acres of lakes, woods, and farmland used for experiential education programs. Our programs offer a wide range of outdoor activities, including team challenges on our ropes course, leadership development, rock climbing, and camping. We offer one to multiple-day programs for a diverse clientele, that include public and independent schools, college organizations, community groups, youth development programs, special needs populations, and adult non-profit organizations, and for-profit corporations. During the summer, our program expands to include a summer day camp for children ages 4-17. Our summer camp programs offer a variety of outdoor activities including the above, plus swimming, fishing, archery, canoeing, and outdoor exploration.
This is a senior management year round position at Genesee Valley that includes varies tasks and responsibilities. The Program Director’s primary responsibilities involve direct management of the year- round experiential educational programs, summer camp oversight, and staff supervision. Qualities that are crucial for this position include effective oral and written communication, good judgment, flexibility, the ability to work and solve problems collaboratively as well as individually, impeccable ethics, and confidentiality. The position reports directly to the General Manager of Genesee Valley.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- Two years of full-time Challenge Course facilitation experience
- Two years of progressively responsible full-time supervisory experience at a facility similar to Genesee Valley
- Three years of progressively responsible full-time supervisory experience at a facility similar to Genesee Valley
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid
- Recent participation in professional experiential and outdoor education organizations
