On-Water trip leader for teen summer programs at The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum
We are looking for qualified kayak trip leaders for the “Champlain Discovery “program at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. This five-week program for teens age 13-16 runs from June 18th to July 21st. Ten participants build 17’ sea kayaks at the museum and then embark on a 10-day Lake Champlain voyage from Whitehall NY to Burlington VT in the boats they built . Trip leaders will be responsible for the group for the 5-week session. The boatbuilding portion is a 5-day a week day-program followed by a 10-day trip on Lake Champlain. Qualifications: WFA or WFR certificate (WFR preferred). Experience with on-water trip leading and managing group dynamics needed. Enthusiasm, flexibility, positive energy and a desire to work with teenagers is essential. It is not necessary to be a boat-builder or woodworker, just a willingness to get dirty and learn.
