Responsibilities: The Head Cook is responsible for menu planning, food orders, inspections, organizing staff, and more. The kitchen staff consists of a kitchen manager, a head cook, a baker, and 5-6 cooks. Working as a team, the kitchen staff are responsible for preparing three well-balanced, family style meals, as well as a wholesome evening snack, each day. Each person works 5-6 shifts per week; each shift is approximately 8 hours. The Head Cook may be asked to perform all elements of kitchen work from prep to clean up. The Head Cook must work well with and manage people different from themselves and be committed to maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment meeting all health code standard. They must enjoy living and working in the outdoors and with children. Kitchen staff attend all-staff orientation and kitchen training.

Campers dine on fresh meats and dairy products, and natural and organically grown produce such as garden-fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, unrefined sugar, honey and olive oil. We also cater for vegetarian and vegan diets.
Required Qualifications: Experience planning and cooking nutritious meals from scratch. Experience with commercial kitchen work. CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications: Spanish language skills

Who We Are: Eagle’s Nest Camp is a coed camp over 90 years old, located in the lush mountains of Western North Carolina. Eagle’s Nest Camp provides a joyful, nurturing community where campers finishing kindergarten - 11th grade are treated with respect and compassion. Campers have the opportunity to participate in 1-3 week long sessions which emphasize nature, arts, and community living. Our mission is experiential education for young people, promoting the natural world and the betterment of human character.
