Responsibilities: The Sous Chef/Head Cook position entails executive chef responsibilities such as menu planning, inspections, organizing staff, etc. The kitchen team consists of a kitchen manager, a sous chef/head cook, a baker, and 5-6 cooks. Working as a team, the kitchen staff are responsible for preparing three well-balanced, family-style meals, as well as a wholesome evening snack, each day. Each person works 5-6 shifts per week; each shift is approximately 8 hours. The sous chef may be asked to perform all elements of kitchen work from prep to clean up. Teamwork, flexibility, a commitment to maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment meeting all health code standards, a strong work ethic, an ability to teach/mentor peers, and enthusiasm for working with/around children are all vital qualities for success. Kitchen staff attend all-staff orientation and kitchen training.

Qualifications: Experience planning and cooking nutritious meals from scratch is key for this position, as is past commercial kitchen work. We require CPR and First Aid certification by the time the season begins.

Eagle's Nest Camp is a coed camp over 90 years old located in the lush mountains of Western North Carolina. Eagle's Nest provides a strong, nurturing community where campers ages 6-17 are treated with respect, honor and compassion.
