NVW is an intermediate level of care program for those who require an immediate intervention and intensive treatment. Our programs specialize in treating struggles associated with adoption, trauma, anxiety and addiction. We currently serve preteens, teens, young adults, and families in two locations: the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin and the majestic mountains of Oregon, right outside of Bend. NVW is part of a growing, national family of programs (preteen-young adult, residential, transitional, intensive, etc.) with the same particular focus.

The Field Director at New Vision Wilderness Wisconsin will be responsible for overseeing everything related to field operations, as well as working in collaboration with the clinical team to implement Calo’s treatment model. Field Directors are responsible for ensuring a safe and therapeutic milieu for our groups of students, in charge of supervising and mentoring Wilderness Instructors, planning itineraries and managing schedules crisis response and prevention, policy implementation and direct care of clients.
Key Responsibilities (among others):Management of day-to-day programming milieu and maintaining the clinical modalityMentoring and training instructors; including being in the field for supervision and training purposes - a minimum requirement of one overnight in the field with clients weeklyCreating a structured training system for instructorsProgram development, creating and implementing NVW Policies and Procedures and sustaining NVW’s philosophiesAbility to respond to crisis and enforce emergency protocols – including the ability to work some weekends as necessaryAssisting with logistics, enrollments, and other office duties as neededSupporting Adventure Programming (Climbing/ Canoeing/Skiing)
Job Requirements:Minimum of one year experience working in the field with at-risk youth or relevant experience; outdoor and wilderness trip experience required - previous wilderness therapy experience preferredMust own your own backpacking gear, able to lift and carry 50+ pounds for extended durations over uneven terrainCertified Wilderness First Responder (including CPR)
Must be able to pass a Background Criminal Investigation
Must be able to pass a drug screen, if necessary
Must hold a valid Driver's License with clean driving record
