The Associate Director will work directly with the Director of the OERC in providing operational leadership, supervision, presentations, and programming in the absence of the director. Additionally, the Associate Director will be responsible for leading and providing supervisory oversight for the development and implementation of internal and external outdoor programming including, but not limited to, oversight of staff on campus activities and student programs. In addition to these duties, the Associate Director will work with the Director and will be responsible for OERC community education and engagement activities. Minimum qualifications for this position are (1) a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Education, Environmental Education, Outdoor Leadership or similar field, or a bachelor’s degree and equivalent professional experience in the outdoor/environmental field; (2) at least 3 years’ experience working in outdoor education/recreation programs; (3) is currently a Wilderness First Responder (WFR); and (4) is certified in CPR or willingness to acquire same or higher level. Note that this position requires (1) lifting and carrying, e.g., canoes, kayaks, ropes, camping equipment, etc.; (2) the ability to engage in extensive physical activities necessary to lead and participate in wilderness trips, including maintaining and moving outdoor equipment, (3) lifting 50 pounds; and (4) ability to travel by foot over varied terrain.
